History
2009-10: Oscar Dansk skated for the U16 team at Shattuck-St Mary's in Minnesota and competed for Stockholm 1 in the TV-Pucken tournament in his native Sweden. Sharing the goaltending duties with Kyle Hayton on a Shattuck team that was 42-9-2 and won the USA Tier I U16 national championship, Dansk was 13-2-1 in 18 games with a 1.89 goals against and .914 save percentage. In five games in the TV-Pucken tournament he had a 1.80 goals against and .932 save percentage. Stockholm 1 captured the gold medal in the tournament and Dansk was named Best Goaltender.
2010-11: Dansk returned to Sweden and split the season between Brynas' U20 and U18 teams. In 21 SuperElit U20 games, he had a 2.70 goals against and .911 save percentage. Dansk started one game in Brynas' two-game series with Frolunda, stopping 30 of 35 shots in a 5-2 loss after Brynas had lost the first game, 11-0. In 17 regular season games with the U18 team, he had a 2.25 goals against and .924 save percentage. Dansk started all five playoff games, recording a 3.78 goals against and .899 save percentage as Brynas U18 captured a bronze medal.
2011-12: Dansk again skated for Brynas' U20 and U18 clubs and represented Sweden in the U19 World Junior A Challenge and U18 World Junior Championship tournaments. In 29 games for Brynas U20 he had a 2.81 goals against and .909 save percentage. Dansk started both playoff games as Brynas was swept by Sodertalje; stopping 50 of 57 shots faced. In two games with Brynas U18 during the regular season he allowed four goals with a .913 save percentage. Dansk was 3-0 with one shutout; allowing three goals in three U18 playoff games. Playing in the World Junior A Challenge, he allowed two goals in two games with a .971 save percentage. Dansk was 4-1 with one shutout and had a 1.98 goals against and .937 save percentage in five games as Sweden captured a silver medal at the U18 World Junior Championship. He was invited to the NHL Draft Combine and ranked second amongst European goaltenders in Central Scouting's final rankings prior to the 2012 NHL Draft.
Talent Analysis
Dansk is on his way to becoming a very consistent goaltender. He plays a butterfly style that puts his quick lateral movements on display and allows him to easily control rebounds. He trained at Shattuck St. Mary and has an excellent hockey IQ. His biggest issue is that he needs to play with more confidence and stay out of his own head.
Future
Dansk has already carried teams in international play (2011-12 WJC U18). His confidence will come as he gets more reps at the professional level. He will see a significant increase in playing time with Sweden’s Brynas IF Gavle of the Elitserien League and could be back in North America by 2013, if he has a standout year in Sweden.
