History
2008-09: Holland made his WHL debut, appearing in one game with the Tri-City Americans and was the second-leading scorer for the Lethbridge Y's Men Titans in the Alberta Midget AAA hockey league. Holland scored 17 goals with 28 assists and 20 PMs in 34 games for the Titans and had 5 goals with 11 assists in seven playoff contests.
2009-10: Holland had a solid learning year in his rookie season with the Tri-City Americans. He scored 16 goals (two on the power play) along with 20 assists and a plus two rating but only taking 14 PIMs in 59 WHL games. The rookie showed his versatility by playing his off-wing while being chosen rookie of the year for the Americans. Holland gained valuable experience when the Americans battled all the way to the WHL playoff finals but lost in the fifth game of the series against the Calgary Hitmen. The skilled winger scored three goals with seven assists but a terrible minus nine rating in 22 WHL playoff games. The offensively talented forward will have to improve his defensive work ethic and physical strength to accent high hockey IQ and his creativity.
2010-11: Holland was given a bigger role in his second season with the Tri-City Americans which helped him to improve his all round play. The defensively improved winger scored 22 goals with 40 assists and a plus ten rating in 71 WHL games. In the 10 playoff games, he scored four goals with four assists and an even rating while only taking a two minute penalty. He was important in the Americans getting to the second round of the playoffs.
2011-12: Holland had a remarkable season, finishing sixth in scoring for the regular season and ninth for the playoffs in the WHL. The third year forward improved by more than 40 points over last season's offensive numbers, scoring 25 goals (five on the power play and two shorthanded) along with 84 assists (league leading) and a plus 42 rating in 72 WHL games. Holland and the Americans had a deep WHL playoff run when they were swept 4-0 by the Portland Winterhawk in the semi-finals. The talented two-way forward put up solid numbers, scoring six goals along with 13 assists but was a surprising even rating while taking a shocking 22 PIMs. The 20-year-old was suspended one game in the first round for clipping and had an unusual Gordie Howe Hat-trick against Spokane in their second round match-up.
Talent Analysis
Holland is one of those players who can sometimes go unnoticed but he can do it all. He sees the ice well, can set up teammates, will score the big goal and can shut-down the opposition's best players. He played a big role this season on the team's penalty killing unit and at times produced star games when his team seemed to need it. Holland needs to add more muscle mass to his thin frame while continuing his improvement of his two-way game to play at the professional level.
Future
Holland will be starting his professional career and most likely be playing in the AHL with Hamilton for the upcoming season.
