Cehlin played one ECHL game with Cincinnati, scoring an empty net goal in a February game with the Cyclones before returning to Milwaukee.

Talent Analysis

An excellent skater. Cehlin accelerates really well and has good top speed. He is an offensive minded player with good technical skills and creativity. Passes the puck well and is a good scorer too. Could use some fine-tuning in his defensive game. Size is a drawback, although he has grown a bit in the last few seasons.

Future

Cehlin had a good introductory year to North American hockey with Milwaukee but still needs to fine-tune his defensive game to be considered a more valuable prospect to the Preds. That being said his jump across the pond and the limited success he has had in his rookie year greatly improves his potential impact at the NHL level.

At the trade deadline, the Nashville Predators traded away their first round pick in 2012 as well as their second round picks in 2012 and 2013. While it may seem like they gave up a lot of future assets, they did so with the knowledge that many of their top prospects are gradually meeting their potential. The inaugural edition of the HF Prospect Awards is a testament to this notion as many of the recipients have seen time this season in the NHL.
