After three years in the BCHL, Crowder joined the University of Alaska Anchorage in the fall of 2006. During the 2006-07 season, Crowder was voted Rookie of the Year by his teammates, and was second in scoring on the Sea Wolves roster. Named to the WCHA All-Academic team in his sophomore 2007-08 season, Crowder was tied for second on the team in scoring. This past season, the junior center was the scoring leader on UAA team, was named the team’s MVP, and was nominated for the University’s Athlete of the Year.
In March 2009, Crowder signed an entry-level contract with the Rangers, and finished the 2008-09 season as a member of the Hartford Wolf Pack.
