History

2008-09: Lefebvre nearly doubled his offensive numbers in his second season with Drummondville – scoring 21 goals with 27 assists and 38 PMs. The Voltigeurs finished first in the Central Division and captured the QMJHL's President's Trophy under coach Guy Boucher. Lefebvre finished +31 on a team that scored 156 more goals than it allowed. In 19 playoff games he scored 3 goals with 5 assists and was +6 with 2 PMs. Lefebvre signed a free agent contract with the Montreal Canadiens in September 2009.

2009-10: Lefebvre was a teammate of Canadiens' 2009 fifth-round pick Gabriel Dumont in his third season with Drummondville. Lefebvre played in 66 contests and scored 26 goals while assisting on 29 others, eking out improvements over his previous bests. His +21 plus/minus was only tenth best on a Voltigeurs squad that had the QMJHL's second-best record and finished first in the Central Division. In 14 playoff games Lefebvre scored 2 goals with 4 assists and was +7 with 9 PMs.

2010-11: Lefebvre spent his fourth QMJHL season with the Montreal Juniors after being acquired along with Charles Landry in a June 2010 trade with Drummondville. Lefebvre scored 19 goals with 27 assists in 60 games with the Juniors and was +26 with 38 PMs. Montreal finished first in the West Division and defeated Halifax in the first round of the playoffs before falling to Lewiston. Lefebvre played in all ten playoff games and had 3 goals with 5 assists and was +3.

2011-12: Lefebvre has played okay for his first professional season but struggled to show his offensive game. He managed to stay in the Bulldogs' line-up for 69 games while scoring only five goals along with six assists and a minus 18 rating on a struggling Hamilton team.

Talent Analysis

Lefebvre is a two-way player who has some offensive upside and can be a streaky scorer but projects to a third-line checking role. He needs to add strength and size while improving his overall game at the AHL level.

Future

Lefebvre will need to show a better overall game this season in Hamilton to stay in the starting line-up with the influx of many talented rookie prospects at the AHL level for the upcoming season.

Last season, the Hamilton Bulldogs finished near the bottom of the AHL and failed to make the Calder Cup playoff, a fate similar to their parent club, the Montreal Canadiens. New General Manager, Marc Bergevin decided to bring in a completely new Bulldogs' coaching staff, adding a good mix of NHL and junior experience with head coach Sylvain Lefebvre, assistants Donald Dufresne, Ron Wilson, and goaltending coach Vincent Riendeau.
