The younger brother of the Thrashers’ Colby Armstrong.
2007-08: Armstrong appeared in 64 games with the Worcester Sharks (AHL), recording 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) and 91 PIM. He had a Sharks’ season-high nine shots in a 2-1 win vs. Lowell on Oct. 20. He recorded a season-high 17 penalty minutes and an assists on Nov. 17 vs. Portland. He missed six straight games (12-22 – 1/2) with an injury, and missed nine more (3/22 – 4/9) near the end of the season. He shaved his head at center ice after the Apr. 6 game vs. Springfield as part of his Locks of Love campaign.
2008-09: Armstrong had his most productive season in 2008-09 in terms of points, with 42. The difference was his ability to finish on scoring opportunities. He scored 25 goals and 17 assists in 71 games. He got a taste of the NHL this year, only sticking around to skate in two games.
Armstrong plays with plenty of grit and hunger. He likes to put the puck on goal, and crash the net.
