History
2007-08: Horak played the majority of the season with HC Ceské Budejovice in the U20 Czech league. In 34 games he registered 17 goals and 11 assists.
2008-09: Scored 33 points in 31 games for HC Ceské Budejovice in the U20 league. Also played eight games for the elite team. He represented the Czech Republic at the U18 WJC, netting a pair of goals and an assists in six appearances.
2009-10: Horak was a surprise offensive performer in his rookie season with the Chilliwack Bruins. He scored 21 goals with 26 assists and a plus 15 rating in 66 WHL games. The skilled two-way centerman impressed the coaching staff enough to play on both the power play (five goals) and penalty killing (five goals) units. The skilled forward was eighth overall in the league in rookie scoring for an excellent first season performance. Horak played for the Czech Republic at the World Junior Championship but only scored one goal with an assist in 6 tournament games. The Bruins were able to make the WHL playoffs but lost in the first round even though Horak scored two goals with four assists and a plus two rating in six playoff games.
2010-11: Horak had a better playmaking sophomore season with the Chilliwack Bruins when he became the set-up man for Ryan Howse (CAL) a 51 goal scorer. Horak scored 26 goals (15 power play goals) along with 52 assists in 64 WHL games. The two-way centerman finished the season with a minus two rating on a defensively weak Bruins' team but was still able to score two shorthanded tallies. The Czech born centerman would again play for his country at the World Junior Championships but was only able to contribute an assist in five tournament games. The Bruins would just make the WHL playoffs but lost again in the first round when Horak scored only one goal with two assists and a minus four rating in five playoff games. The playmaking centerman and his shooter (Howse) were easily blanketed by the Spokane Chiefs as the Bruins' only offensive weapons.
Talent Analysis
Horak has solid offensive instincts, quick acceleration, deceptive one on one moves but can, at times, hold the puck a little too long. He has the ability to score on the power play and penalty killing because it allows him more time and space to control the puck. The talented centerman will need to add muscle to his thin frame while learning to work harder at putting out a bigger effort defensively. He has a tendency to float around waiting for the puck to come to him instead of going and taking it back.
Future
Horak will probably be assigned to the AHL Abbottsford Heat for this season to show his offensive skills at the professional level while helping the team's overall scoring problems. The skilled centerman will most likely play with his junior partner, Ryan Howse, on one of the top two forward lines for the Heat.
