History

Ryan Hamilton is coming off his best season with the Barrie Colts of the OHL. In 2005-06 he notched 46 goals and 72 points. His previous two seasons with Barrie were plagued with injuries; he appeared in only 83 games tallying 51 points.

Signed as a free agent, July 2006.

2007-08: This season was Hamilton’s second both as a pro and as a member of the Houston Aeros (AHL). He netted his first goal of the season in a 6-5 shootout win at San Antonio on Oct. 19, plus the shootout-winning goal. In 72 games with the club, he finished the regular season with a +13 plus/minus rating and 39 points (20g+19a). He scored one goal in two playoff games with the Aeros. Traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008.

 

Future

Hamilton signed a two-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers in July of 2013.

Scoring a first NHL goal is no doubt a memorable event in any young hockey’s player’s career. But netting that milestone goal at the age of 29, after years of competing primarily at the AHL level, must be an extra special feeling.
