History
2008-09: Glennie scored 28 goals with 42 assists in 55 games in his second season with the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings – missing time in February after suffering a broken elbow. He returned at the end of the year and was with Brandon during the WHL playoffs when the Wheat Kings reached the semifinals. He scored 3 goals with 15 assists and was plus-ten with 11 penalty minutes in 12 playoff games. Ranked seventh amongst North American skaters in Central Scouting's final rankings prior to the 2009 NHL Draft, Glennie was selected by Dallas in the first round (eighth overall).
2009-10: Glennie completed a third successful season with the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL), setting career highs in goals (32), assists (57) and points (89). Playing on a line with prospects Brayden Schenn(PHI) and Matt Calvert (CBJ), he was plus-36 as Brandon finished first in the East with the WHL's second-best record. Brandon rolled through the playoffs before running into the Calgary Hitmen for the second straight season in the semifinals. Glennie scored 3 goals with 7 assists in 10 playoff games and was plus-two with 14 penalty minutes.
2010-11: Glennie made his pro hockey debut with Dallas AHL affiliate Texas in April following his fourth season with the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings. In four regular season games with the Texas Stars he was scoreless and minus-two with 2 penalty minutes. Glennie scored his first pro goal in the fourth game of Texas' six-game playoff series with Milwaukee. The goal was his only point in the series and he finished an even plus/minus with 2 penalty minutes. Glennie's junior career came to a disappointing end as the Wheat Kings slipped to third in the East Division and were eliminated by Medicine Hat in the first round of the playoffs. Glennie was the second-leading scorer for Brandon behind Ottawa prospect Mark Stone – scoring 35 goals with 56 assists in 70 games – and was plus-four with 58 penalty minutes. He and Stone shared the team lead in points (10) in the six-game playoff series with the Tigers
2011-12: Glennie made his NHL debut in Dallas' final game of the season after spending his first pro season with the Stars' AHL affiliate Texas. He was scoreless with 2 penalty minutes in 9:35 minutes of action in the 3-2 loss to St. Louis. Glennie scored 12 goals with 25 assists and was minus-8 with 26 penalty minutes in 70 games for Texas. The Texas Stars missed the AHL playoffs; finishing last in the West Division.
Talent Analysis
Speedy forward who is a natural goal-scorer. Can play center or wing and may be re-tried at center early in his pro career. Has a wicked shot and has great straight line speed. Works well as a complimentary finisher on a big line (like he was with Brayden Schenn and Matt Calvert in Brandon). May not have the playmaking ability or overall instincts to “pilot” a line where he’s the best player on it. Could stand to use his speed a little productively in the defensive zone. Plays a technical game, but rarely gets physical or imposing. Plays a perimeter game, especially when the chips are down. Needs to improve his overall work rate and determination.
Potential: Top-six goal-scoring forward, like a less talented version of Jeff Carter.
Future
Will get an opportunity to challenge for an NHL roster spot in 2012-13, or could be one of the first call-ups. Showed some improvement as a center late last season in the AHL.
