Stephen Johnston

Prospect Grade: 6.0 C  (About Prospect Grades)

Profile Contributed By: HF Staff

History

2008-09: As a member of the OHL Belleville Bulls, Johnston saw his production increase drastically as he finished his sophomore season with 36 points in 58 games. While his play in the post-season didn’t make the same impact, Johnston is still an intriguing prospect.

Talent Analysis

Once known strictly as a role player, Johnston has evolved into an offensive threat. The man known as “Mini-Matthias” (after the ex-Wings’ prospect Shawn Matthias) is strong defensively and is now showing his offensive instincts as well.

Future

If he hopes to garner a contract with Detroit, he will have to once again improve upon his offensive numbers this season.
