Prospect Grade: 6.0 C  (About Prospect Grades)

History

Following a year playing with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in which Ramholt recorded 36 points in 51 games, Ramholt spent time during the NHL lockout back in Switzerland. Playing for his hometown ZSC Zurich Lions, the 6’1 194 lb defenseman had only four points in 41 games. In the 2005-06 season, Ramholt would play for Kloten of the Swiss Hockey league, recording one assist in 42 games.
2006-07: In his return to North American ice, playing for the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the AHL, Ramholt has chipped in with 12 points (2G, 10A) in his 61 games.
2007-08: In his 65 games this season with the Quad City Flames, Ramholt has 18 points (4G, 14A).

Talent Analysis

The 2003 Swiss World Junior tournament participant’s most noticeable attribute, is his speed. The North American game has developed his physical side, as Ramholt has demonstrated a willingness to play tough in the corners.

Future

The biggest knock against Ramholt, is that he doesn’t always make the best decisions with the puck, so to be a viable No. 5-6 option for the Flames, he’ll have to make better passes and learn to be more consistent in his decision making.
