History
Signed an entry level contract with the New York Rangers during the 2008 offseason.
After an excellent rookie tournament, Dowzak was signed by the Rangers in October 2008. However, after playing in both Hartford and Charlotte, it was clear that Dowzak was not ready for professional play. He was returned to Kelowna to finish out his junior career.
Talent Analysis
A big stay-at-home defenseman who will fight. His skating and mobility are weaknesses.
Dowzak has a simple defensive style, phenomenal conditioning, and plays hard in front of his own net.
Future
Dowzak will get another opportunity to join the AHL Wolf Pack in the fall of 2009. Not expected to become an NHL player for at least two to three years, Dowzak will most likely be a sixth or seventh blueliner on an NHL team.
