History

Spent three seasons with Rungstead in Denmark beforing coming to the CHL.

2004-05: Played for PEI Rocket in the QMJHL and notched 59 points in 64 games as a rookie.  Was chosen in the fourth round by Edmonton.

2005-06: Led PEI in scoring by a country mile totaling 96 points.  After the season Trukhno asked management to be traded and got his wish.

2006-07: In what would be his last season in the QMJHL, Trukhno appeared in 60 games with his new team, the Gatineau Olympiques. His 25 goals and 102 points trumped his totals from previous seasons. He will make his AHL debut with Springfield in 2007-08.

2007-08: This marked the centers first season of professional hockey, which he spent with the Springfield Falcons (AHL). In 64 games, Trukhno potted 14 goals and 35 points, starting his pro career off with excellent numbers for a rookie.

2008-09: His second season with the Falcons (AHL), Trukhno scored seven goals and 26 points through 56 games, totals not equaling those he achieved in his rookie season as a pro.

Talent Analysis

Trukhno is a good puck handler with offensive skills and is a threat to opponents carrying the puck through the neutral zone with his open-ice hitting. In general Trukhno plays a physical, gritty, style of game using his speed to go deep on the forecheck and punish opposing defensemen. Reports suggest that he’s a bit introverted and took a long time to adjust to the AHL as a result. Each year he has been a player who disappoints during training camp until he gets into a game where he always does something to get noticed. Must find consistency and a better work ethic in practice.

Future

If he can pick up from where he left off last year then Trukhno could rightfully claim a top-six job in Springfield. Another slow start out of camp though and he could find himself down the depth chart having to fight to regain his standing.
