History
Spent three seasons with Rungstead in Denmark beforing coming to the CHL.
2004-05: Played for PEI Rocket in the QMJHL and notched 59 points in 64 games as a rookie. Was chosen in the fourth round by Edmonton.
2005-06: Led PEI in scoring by a country mile totaling 96 points. After the season Trukhno asked management to be traded and got his wish.
2006-07: Skated for the Gatineau Olympiques set new personal highs in points (102) and assists (77). Signed a contract with Edmonton midway through the season.
2007-08: Turned pro and spent the entire season with Springfield (AHL). Took a long time to find his game but ended the year fairly impressively with a lengthy scoring streak.
Talent Analysis
Trukhno is a good puck handler with offensive skills and is a threat to opponents carrying the puck through the neutral zone with his open-ice hitting. In general Trukhno plays a physical, gritty, style of game using his speed to go deep on the forecheck and punish opposing defensemen. Reports suggest that he’s a bit introverted and took a long time to adjust to the AHL as a result. Each year he has been a player who disappoints during training camp until he gets into a game where he always does something to get noticed. Must find consistency and a better work ethic in practice.
Future
If he can pick up from where he left off last year then Trukhno could rightfully claim a top-six job in Springfield. Another slow start out of camp though and he could find himself down the depth chart having to fight to regain his standing.
