Viktor Alexandrov

Prospect Grade: 7.0 D  (About Prospect Grades)

Profile Contributed By: Kyle McMahon

History

2005-06: The young forward moved to SKA St. Petersburg after enjoying a successful stint in the Metallurg system. His production was lower than in the past, as he only produced 11 points on the season. He was demoted to SKA-2 briefly, but showed he was too skilled to remain down for long.

2006-07: Alexandrov began the season back at SKA St. Petersburg. He managed a respectable 11 points in 19 games, but apparently dissatisfied with his play, SKA waived him. He was picked up by MDV Tver for the second half of the season, and contributed 8 points in 20 games, as well as a pair of points in the playoffs.

Talent Analysis

Alexandrov is a fast skater who displays good agility. He has good puck skills, whether it be passing or stickhandling. Even though he is not very big, he plays an aggressive style and isn’t afraid of heading into traffic. Alexandrov thinks the game well and makes smart decisions on the ice.

Future

The Blues will hold Alexandrov’s rights indefinitely due to the lack of an NHL-Russian Federation transfer agreement. It seems doubtful that he will come over to North America, though his talent level is sufficient that the Blues would likely be willing to sign him if he showed interest.
