History
2006-07: Had a lot of success with Slavia during the season, collecting 58 points (24 goals, 34 assists) and 54 penalty minutes in 37 games played. He was also a member of the Czech Republic team for the U18 tournament in Finland this past spring. He tied Ondrej Roman for the lead in team scoring with six points (2 goals, 4 assists).
The young pivot is the son of former NHLer Vladimir Ruzicka.
2007-08: Played his first full season with HC Slavia Praha in the Extraliga. Saw action on the team’s third and fourth lines and saw an increased role (especially on special teams), when other players went down due to injury. He showed an ability to build both confidence and strength in his game over the course of the year. In 42 games, he had 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) and was a plus-8.
2008-09: In 36 games with Slavia Praha, he posted 5 goals and 6 assists. In the playoffs, he posted an additional 2 goals and 1 assist through 14 games.
2009-10: In 47 games the forward posted 6 goals, 10 assists, and 22 penalty minutes.
2010-11: Ruzicka scored a career-high 8 goals in 32 games for Slavia Prague in his fourth season in the Czech Extraliga. Slavia finished seventh in the 14-team league.
Talent Analysis
A good sized center, Ruzicka is a left-handed shot with a polished all-around offensive skill set. He is a dangerous threat with the puck because of his speed and playmaking ability.
