Wayne Simmonds

History

2006-07: Out of Owen Sound of the OHL, Simmonds battled his way to 49 points and 112 penalty minutes in 66 games.

2007-08: Simmonds made a name for himself as a physical presence to be reckoned with on the ice, also earning a roster spot with Team Canada for the WJC.  With a solid 75 points in 60 games between Sault Ste. Marie and Owen Sound of the OHL, Simmonds was no slouch on the score sheet while acting as a wrecking ball in front of the net and was more than willing to drop the gloves against any foe.

Talent Analysis

Simmonds has a lot of raw skills that make him a very interesting prospect as he develops.  A good skater with a solid shot, he is also not afraid of physical play and is willing to drop the gloves in defense of his teammates despite his thin frame.  Also has a leader-type mentality
