History
Consensus on draft day was that a fourth round pick was a fair price to pay for this prototypical European forward (soft, speedy and "skilled"). However two years down the line Artemenkov is looking unlikely to crack the Russian Super League anytime soon, let alone even cross Darryl Sutter's mind as a future Flames.
Talent Analysis
When Don Cherry rants and raves about the stereotypical European player, he's talking about the Yuri Artemenkov's of the world. A speedy finesse player, Artemenkov sees the ice well and shoots the puck well. However, a stiff breeze can knock him off the puck and he needs a map to find his way around his own zone.
Future
Future you ask? Slim to none. He is having a tough time even getting the chance to compete against the best Russia has to offer, let alone establishing himself as a standout against said talent.
