2006-07: This marked the centers third season as a Swift Current Bronco. He set a number of career-highs this season, in games played (71), goals (16), assists (15), points (31) and penalty minutes (130). Expect to see him back with Swift Current next season.
2007-08: Smith returned to his old standby, Swift Current, for another season of WHL hockey. In 72 games, he set several career-highs, including goals (22), assists (48), points (70) and penalty minutes (136); he added an additional 10 points (5g+5a) in 12 postseason games. He also saw some AHL action, registering an assist in six games with the Manitoba Moose during its playoff run.
2008-09: The center spent the season with Binghamton (AHL), his first full season of pro hockey action. In 79 games he tallied 24 goals and as many assists, while racking up a near career-high 132 penalty minutes. He also appeared in a game with Ottawa, but failed to register any points.
2009-10: Spent most of the season with Binghamton, posting 14 goals and 41 points in 68 outings with the baby Sens to go with his 100 penalty minutes. Found his way into Ottawa’s lineup for 15 games, where he netted 2 goals and 1 assist to go with 14 penalty minutes.
