It seems like just yesterday that we were talking about October/November, and the first On the Rush of the 2015-16 campaign was being put together. Alas, here we are in April with many teams and players done for the season. Arizona Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney being fired is one of the strangest stories of the post-season so far. The former Winnipeg franchise better known in recent years for city council controversies than on-ice success drifted back toward soap opera just when it seemed the hockey part was improving. Whoever replaces the veteran manager this summer owes him a phone call of thanks for helping to establish one of the league’s best prospect groups. Holding their own first round pick in the 2016 Draft, plus the New York Rangers’, means the team can bolster a good group even further.

Quinnipiac University junior defenseman Connor Clifton has come a long way since arriving in Hamden, CT over three years ago. The Matawan, NJ native began his collegiate career as a menacing presence on the blueline who also racked up the penalty minutes. Read more»

He is certainly not complaining, but Oskar Sundqvist scored the first goal of his NHL career and an unlikely source assisted on it. Also featured are two goals scored tie-tac-toe style, and a pair of between-the-legs efforts that are just too good to be true. The number of names that have taken Drake Caggiula off his feet this season is an awfully short one, and an unlikely source tagged him behind the net while North Dakota was in the midst of advancing to the 2016 NCAA Frozen Four. Quinnipiac also earned a berth with a pair of highlight-reel goals, and JT Compher’s no-look pass is a must-see.
