The Columbus Blue Jackets have had a nice flow of prospects over the past few seasons. With players like Boone Jenner and Dalton Prout among others emerging in the NHL, the second wave of Blue Jackets’ prospects are chomping at the bit to get their shot.

The Columbus Blue Jackets were coming off a successful seasons entering the 2014 NHL Draft and the future looks bright for the youthful team. After having three first round picks and eight overall picks in last year’s draft, Columbus was able to address a lot of its offensive needs. This year GM Jarmo Kekalainen put together a balanced draft that added depth to the Blue Jackets’ system in every area.

The NHL's Western Conference currently has the bragging rights to league supremacy as a a result of the Los Angeles Kings five-game Stanley Cup final win over the New York Rangers. While the results from the 2014 NHL Draft may not alter the current lock the West has on the NHL's most prized trophy, at least one team in the Eastern Conference might be offering a ray of hope for the future.

Now that the Los Angeles Kings have hoisted their second Stanley Cup in three years, the hockey world can now focus on the 2014 NHL Draft that will take place on June 27th and 28th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
