The Hockey’s Future ranking of the Top 50 NHL prospects is a group project that attempts to determine which prospects will go on to have the greatest impact in their NHL careers. This generally means the highest upside in terms of points but – as in the case of some of the defensemen – the overall effect a player like a Duncan Keith can have on a game does not go unnoticed. It doesn’t get much better in the NHL prospect world when two draft selections taken just nine picks apart other go one-on-one. That is exactly the situation in Sault Ste. Marie this weekend, where Pavel Zacha and the Sarnia Sting travel to Sault Ste. Marie to take on Zach Senyshyn and the Greyhounds. Read more»

Prospect Faceoff: Prospect Faceoff: Matthews stays hot in Zurich, Svechnikov-Garland duel, plus two Top 20 teams clash in college hockey

Auston Matthews is taking an unconventional path to the NHL, and has earned a few accolades already while playing in Switzerland. Two electric playmakers go head-to-head in a battle of assist machines in the QMJHL, and a pair of potential Canadian teammates will likely see a lot of each other in a weekend contest. The Tampa Bay Lightning’s newest signee lines up against a powerhouse forward in what could be a preview of what to expect in the future from both Floridian franchises. NCAA hockey is back, and two Top-20 teams are set to clash in a non-conference game to close out this week’s edition of Prospect Faceoff. Hayden McCool - Windsor Spitfires

Ever wonder what would happen if soccer and hockey had a mash-up? Well, Windsor Spitfires forwards Hayden McCool and Cristiano DiGiacinto came up with an interesting rendition. In a bit of backwards poetry in motion, Tyler Parsons, a goaltender, scores a goal and Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Gardiner moonlights as a goaltender. That plus plenty of individual goal-scoring highlights in this week’s Prospect Impressions! Read more»

The Central Division isn’t home to as many radical changes as the Pacific Division, but it is part of the American Hockey League’s new landscape.

The Manitoba Moose have returned, while the Lake Erie Monsters have a new affiliate — switching from Colorado to the Columbus Blue Jackets — and the rest of the division is ripe with talent. Read more»
