A lighter preseason slate on Wednesday night meant fewer NHL prospects in action, but there were a few noteworthy prospects from those games nonetheless. An offensive outburst in the game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes provided the most noteworthy prospect moments, with a couple more sprinkled in from the remaining games. After strong performances at the 2014 Young Stars Tournament in Penticton, British Columbia where the team went 2-1 (which is a drastic improvement from last year’s 0-3 performance) and a 4-2 victory over the CIS National Champions, the University of Alberta Golden Bears, in an exhibition game, it is clear that the impressive crop of Edmonton Oilers prospects will be exciting to follow in the upcoming 2014-15 season.

Nurse once again Edmonton Oilers’ top prospect in Fall 2014 Top 20

The Fall 2014 edition of the Edmonton Oilers Top 20 remained relatively steadfast among the top five spots save for the addition of newcomer to the list and 2014 third-overall draft selection Leon Draisaitl. Once again, the Top 20 is dominated by defensive prospects but two strong power forwards, Mitch Moroz and Jujhar Khaira (both drafted in 2012), continue to turn heads as they make a push up the rankings and look toward having a strong training camp performance. Goaltender Laurent Brossoit is pulling away from the pack of Oilers goaltending prospects, proving himself the clear front-runner for a chance at an NHL job after a strong rookie professional season.
