The favorites in Group A at the 2015 World Junior Championship played as favorites should on Monday night as the USA and Canada both won their games in workmanlike fashion. The U.S. downed Slovakia 3-0 while Canada skated past defending gold medalists Finland, 4-1. The victories setup the showdown between the top two teams in Group A that will take place on New Year’s Eve at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Read more»

When you’re a country placed in the same grouping as Canada and the USA – two especially talented squads this time around – it can be a tough road to hoe. When the 2014 World Junior Championship tournament started there were few “experts” who would have picked Finland to emerge with the gold medal. The 2016 NHL Draft is still more than a year-and-a-half away, but that doesn’t mean that players eligible for that draft aren’t being observed by scouts. ISS Hockey is one of those scouting groups taking the measure of late ’97 and ’98-born players eligible for that draft, with that organization releasing their December ranking of the top 10 prospects for the 2016 draft.
