The final 2012-13 edition of the NCAA notebook takes a look back at some of the month’s memorable performances and fantastic finishes. The notebook also takes a look at a few surprises that took place around college hockey involving a number of NHL prospects playing in college hockey. Unless otherwise noted, all stats are current as of Mar. 31st.

The NCAA Hockey Tournament gets underway today, with 16 teams competing to whittle the number down to the four schools that will take part in the 2013 NCAA Frozen Four Championship taking place in April.

The 16-team field for this year’s NCAA Tournament is now set. While several of last year’s tournament participants are back, others are making return trips after missing the tournament for a year or more. The tournament will also have one participant making its first-ever appearance.

With Johnny Gaudreau on his wing the past two seasons, Boston College captain Pat Mullane has continued to develop at the college hockey level, and he will leave BC as a highly sought after unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.
