The Tampa Bay Lightning are viewed by some as a contender out of the NHL’s Eastern Conference. If they do make that step forward, then it might be due in part to the talented prospects that the Lightning have working their way through the system. Read more»

Despite the fact that seven NHL preseason games were played on Monday night, most of the prospect highlights were confined to two Eastern Conference tilts.  In one game, a trio of prospects led an offensive outburst, while a goaltending prospect turned in a stellar outing in the other. Read more»

As NHL clubs continue the pruning of their rosters in preparation for the 2014-15 season, the inevitable result is more ice time for veterans tuning up for the coming campaign which leads to fewer opportunities to shine for the younger NHL prospects. So, while there was still a busy slate of 2014 NHL preseason games played between Friday and Sunday, there were not as many notable prospect performances to choose from as there had been in the earliest days of the preseason. The prospects of eight NHL teams arrived in Traverse City, MI late last week for five days of intense competition and to showcase their skills at the 2014 Traverse City Prospects Tournament. Futures from the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues took to the ice starting Friday and will continue to battle until the championship game on Tuesday evening.
