Two NHL rookies netted their first career goals on Tuesday night, while another newcomer scored one on the weekend that had been previously overlooked. The Boston BruinsSeth Griffith and the Winnipeg JetsAdam Lowry each registered their first NHL goal on Tuesday while the St. Louis BluesJori Lehtera netted his in a Saturday win. Read more»

Tampa Bay Lightning rookie forward Vladislav Namestnikov was among the scoring leaders during the 2014 NHL preseason, picking up seven assists in five games. It took him a couple of regular season games to find his groove, but Namestnikov broke through with two points against the Montreal Canadiens in a 7-1 Lightning win that included Namestnikov’s first NHL goal. The race to claim the mantle of first overall selection for the 2015 NHL Draft has officially begun in earnest with the start of the 2014-15 season. The main combatants for that honor, Erie Otters center Connor McDavid and Boston University forward Jack Eichel, have both seen game action within the past week and will be closely scrutinized by NHL scouts from now through April or May.
