It doesn’t get much better in the NHL prospect world when two draft selections taken just nine picks apart other go one-on-one. That is exactly the situation in Sault Ste. Marie this weekend, where Pavel Zacha and the Sarnia Sting travel to Sault Ste. Marie to take on Zach Senyshyn and the Greyhounds. Read more»

Connor McDavid came through for the Edmonton Oilers this weekend, and is centering one of the most interesting forward combinations so far this year. The Erie Otters miss him, but still boast a perfect record thanks to some tremendous passing. Lawson Crouse and Conor McGlynn helped Kingston to a pair of overtime victories, and Joel Eriksson Ek did the same for Farjestad BK. This and more in this week’s edition of Prospect Impressions. Auston Matthews is taking an unconventional path to the NHL, and has earned a few accolades already while playing in Switzerland. Two electric playmakers go head-to-head in a battle of assist machines in the QMJHL, and a pair of potential Canadian teammates will likely see a lot of each other in a weekend contest. The Tampa Bay Lightning’s newest signee lines up against a powerhouse forward in what could be a preview of what to expect in the future from both Floridian franchises. NCAA hockey is back, and two Top-20 teams are set to clash in a non-conference game to close out this week’s edition of Prospect Faceoff. While the winless Edmonton Oilers haven’t yet gotten the monkey off their backs in 2015-16, their prized rookie Connor McDavid notched the first of what the Oilers hope will be many, many NHL goals from the uber-talented forward. Ever wonder what would happen if soccer and hockey had a mash-up? Well, Windsor Spitfires forwards Hayden McCool and Cristiano DiGiacinto came up with an interesting rendition. In a bit of backwards poetry in motion, Tyler Parsons, a goaltender, scores a goal and Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Gardiner moonlights as a goaltender. That plus plenty of individual goal-scoring highlights in this week’s Prospect Impressions! Read more»
