Team USA has advanced to the semi-final round of the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament after defeating Slovakia, 5-2. But a 4-2 victory on Day 2 over Russia was the win that got the USA going in the right direction at this tournament.

After going undrafted in his first year of eligibility, Seth Griffith locked in.
“When you’re drafted right away you might want to sit back a little bit,” Griffith said. “I got in the right mindset that I had to keep working and that good things would happen.”

Since the NHL Draft was instituted in 1969, the Ontario Hockey League has proven to be the richest source of future talent in the world. And with six of the previous seven first-overall selections coming from the middle Canadian Hockey League association, there was no reason to believe that the province of Ontario (and parts of Michigan and Pennsylvania) wouldn’t be fertile soil again for the next generation of professionals.

With the 2013 NHL Draft now passed, the focus can now turn to the class of 2014. Since Beyond Tomorrow looks at those players eligible for the next draft class, this is the last opportunity to discuss the 2014 draft-eligible players before shifting attention to the 2015's. If one were to believe the content within the sheer volume of NHL trade rumors that clogged up trade blogs and message boards leading up to the 2013 NHL Draft, it would have been easy to come away thinking that every draft pick and player in the league was in play.
