His brother may be four years older — and a couple of inches taller — but if you see a similarity between Sudbury Wolves’ blueliner Evan de Haan and his brother, New York Islanders’ 2009 first-rounder Calvin de Haan, it’s by design.

Over the summer, Connor Crisp added a couple more jerseys to his collection, being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens and being part of an early September trade to Sudbury. But far from being thrown to the Wolves, Crisp said the transition has been more positive than he could have imagined.

For most Ontario Hockey League players, 16 is the age at when you may first enter the league. The majority of 16-year-olds are bit players on a much larger stage than what they’ve been accustomed to. They are growing into the league by paying their dues in practice, and learning from those older than them.

At 6’3-½, Kitchener Rangers’ pivot Ryan MacInnis doesn’t need much help standing out from the crowd. But when you add in the fact that the St. Louis, MO native is the scion of an NHL legend, it’s hard not to get noticed.
