After a real rollercoaster ride at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia, Slovakia bounced back to the fun and promise of WJC playoff hockey play at the 2014 WJC. But the fun was over when they ran into a Swedish team that looked ready for gold medal destiny. While there may not have been an expectation prior to the start of training camp that he would be on the Columbus Blue Jackets‘ roster to start the 2014-15 season, forward Marko Dano has wasted little time in making an impact on the scoresheet. Dano netted his first NHL goal in his team’s second game of the season – the Blue Jackets’ home opener – as Dano’s team went on to a 5-2 win over the New York Rangers. Read more»

The preliminary round of the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship is over and the playoff match-ups are set. Despite the odd surprise performances to start off the tournament, the teams have finished off group play in a manner conducive with most expectations coming in.
