A few different considerations go into deciding the Hockey’s Future NHL Prospect of the Year – performance, expectation, and of course showing up on the monthly list throughout the season. The 2016 IIHF World Championship started with the most anticipated match-up, according to North American fans. Not only was it Canada against the USA, but the game featured the senior men’s national team debuts of Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews – the No. 1 overall draft pick last season and the presumptive No. 1 pick this year. 2016 NHL Draft: Trio at top of draft rankings remains unchanged for ISS, CSS

The scouting arm of the NHL, NHL Central Scouting (CSS), released their final rankings for the 2016 NHL Draft in April. ISS Hockey (ISS), on the other hand, is still releasing their monthly rankings, with their final ranking yet to come in early June. Read more»

Team USA breezed through the preliminary round of the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship with four wins, then won their quarterfinal match against the Czech Republic by an 8-0 count.
