The 2015 World Junior Championship is now in the books, with host country Canada taking the gold medal after a tight, 5-4 win over Russia in the final game. With the preliminary round at the 2015 World Junior Championship now completed, eight of the 10 countries participating at this WJC are moving on to the quarterfinals, while two countries will head to the relegation round. The USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Canada, and Denmark all live to fight another day in their quest for gold, with Switzerland and Germany trying to avoid demotion to next year’s D1A WJC. In a 2015 World Junior Championship game that was tightly contested through most of the first period, Canada took control and defeated the USA 5-3 in their New Year’s Eve showdown at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Both teams are headed to the quarterfinals on Friday, with Canada facing upstart Denmark and the USA facing off against Russia. Read more»

The favorites in Group A at the 2015 World Junior Championship played as favorites should on Monday night as the USA and Canada both won their games in workmanlike fashion. The U.S. downed Slovakia 3-0 while Canada skated past defending gold medalists Finland, 4-1. The victories setup the showdown between the top two teams in Group A that will take place on New Year’s Eve at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Read more»
