At the start of the NCAA collegiate hockey season, two Pittsburgh Penguins draft picks began the next step of their respective hockey journeys together when Nebraska-Omaha traveled to Marquette, MI to face Northern Michigan.

This summer, a number of young players from across the United States were selected to play for the US at the relatively unknown 5 Nations Tournament, a contest for various U17 teams held in Slovakia. The competition consisted of the opponents Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic and play was conducted in a simple round robin format.

With the 25th pick in the first round of the 2013 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens hope they’ve found a big piece of their future. But in the meantime, said big piece will play a big role in the Memorial Cup aspirations of the tournament host London Knights.
