The 2014 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Calgary marks the third time the city has hosted the mid-season festivities at the Saddledome, which is home to both the Calgary Flames (NHL) and the Calgary Hitmen (WHL).

There is a long history of players receiving a late call to participate in the BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, then taking full advantage of the opportunity to make a huge impression. Brayden Point of the Moose Jaw Warriors has a chance to be “that guy” this week in Calgary.

Like many of the players participating in the BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Calgary, Ty Edmonds found out he’d earned the nod from NHL general managers shortly before returning home to Winnipeg for the Christmas break in the WHL schedule. It made for a wonderful gift to share with his parents, Brian and Kim, and his younger brother Wyatt.

For a player whose first experiences with hockey included a pair of roller blades, it probably doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that today Chase De Leo might very well be developing the best set of wheels the WHL has to offer.
