At first glance, one might assume that a player who checks in at 6’6” has got to be the tallest player on his team in a league full of teenagers. In fact, at that height, the player is probably always the tallest player in the room, at a restaurant or in a gym.
The 2014 NHL Draft is still two months away, but it is never too early to take a look at some of the prospects eligible for this year's draft that have been passed over in previous drafts. This edition of "Off the Radar" looks at five prospects that could finally have their names called over the course of the two-day draft taking place in Philadelphia, PA in late June.
Team Canada head coach Kevin Dineen has had a varied 2013-14 season, having taken the Canadian women's team to a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics while also guiding Canada to a bronze medal at the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship.
Winning gold was the goal for Team Canada at the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship, but the defending gold medalists instead had to settle for bronze this time around. Canada defeated Sweden 3-1 to take the bronze medal game in Lappeenranta, Finland, a game in which the Canadians were outshot by the Swedes, 39-26.
Team Canada didn't get what they came for at the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship, but they are heading home with some hardware after winning the bronze medal game against Sweden, 3-1. A strong performance in net by Mason McDonald and goals from Brendan Perlini, Lawson Crouse and Travis Konecny were the difference in the game for the Canadians.
