While a majority of the players on the roster for Sweden at the 2014 World Junior Championship were plucked directly from that country, there is a handful of Swedes that are plying their trade in North America. One such player is defenseman Gustav Olofsson, a Minnesota Wild prospect who is currently playing NCAA hockey for Colorado College.

Olofsson is originally from Sweden but has spent the past several years competing in North America. The Boras, Sweden native spent a couple of seasons playing in the Colorado Thunderbirds organization before moving to the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL, and he is now competing for a Division 1 hockey program.

At the 2014 WJC, Olofsson has been a bit of a revelation for some. He has played his steady, simple game but has also contributed on offense, including the primary assist on the game-winning goal vs. Russia for the still undefeated Swedish squad.

Olofsson spoke with Hockey's Future following his country's win over Norway, a conversation captured in this HF video.
