Boychuk of the Lethbridge Hurricanes named CHL Player of the Week

The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Zach Boychuk of the Lethbridge Hurricanes is the CHL Player of the Week after scoring four goals and one assist for five points to go along with a plus-4 plus-minus rating in two playoff games that helped the Hurricanes jump out to a 2-0 lead over the Calgary Hitmen in the 2008 WHL MNP Eastern Conference Championship series.
Boychuk scored a pair of goals to help the Hurricanes to a 5-2 win in Game 1 of the series on Thursday and scored two goals and an assist in a 4-3 overtime win in Game 2 on Friday.
Boychuk, an 18-year-old from Airdrie, AB, leads all WHL playoff scorers with 11 goals and is third with 19 points in 13 games.
Claude Giroux of the Gatineau Olympiques was the QMJHL nominee after scoring two goals and two assists in two games and Matt Beleskey of the Belleville Bulls was the OHL nominee after scoring one goal and five assists in three games.
