Team USA likely entered the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship knowing they would face difficult opponents over the course of the tournament. But it is likely that they didn't expect a major challenge, let alone a tough loss, in their opening contenst against Switzerland.

While the U.S. squad was the more dominant team through much of the game, the Swiss notched a 4-2 win off of three unanswered third period goals. Swiss goaltender Gauthier Descloux stymied the USA attack, giving his team a chance to steal the win in the final stanza.

USA forward Alex Tuch entered the U18 tournament as a prospect on the rise for the 2014 NHL Draft. The U.S. will be looking to him to provide some offense, although Tuch was only able to put three shots on goal with no points in the game against the Swiss.

Tuch spoke with Hockey's Future after the game vs. Switzerland, a conversation captured in this HF video.
