Tigers’ Mark Isherwood named Boston Pizza WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is defenceman Mark Isherwood of the Medicine Hat Tigers.');

Isherwood picked up 6 points, scoring four goals and two assists to go with a +2 rating, in three games over the past week, helping the Tigers post a 3-0 record in that span.
an style=”LETTER-SPACING: -0.25pt; FONT-SIZE: 10pt”>On Monday, October 12th, the Tigers were in Kamloops to face the Blazers, wrapping up a four game road trip through the WHL B.C. Division.  Isherwood scored two goals and was named the games 2nd Star as the Tigers went on to defeat the Blazers 12-5.  On Friday, October 16th, back at the Arena in Medicine Hat, the Tigers hosted the Chilliwack Bruins, Isherwood picked up a pair of assists in a 2-1 over-time victory.  On Sunday, October 18th, the Tigers hosted their Trans-Canada rivals the Swift Current Broncos to the Arena in Medicine Hat.  Isherwood scored his second two goal game of the season, including the game winner, leading the Tigers to their third straight victory with the 4-3 win.  He was also named the games 1st Star. 
Isherwood’s 6 points over the last three games has him sitting 3rd among all WHL defenceman in scoring with 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) in 12 games played. The Tigers are currently tied with the Calgary Hitmen for top spot in the WHL Central Division with a 6-2-2-2 record for 16 points, and share first place in the WHL Eastern Conference with the Calgary Hitmen, Moose Jaw Warriors and Saskatoon Blades.
Isherwood, a 20-year-old defenceman from Abbotsford, British Columbia, is in his fourth full season with the Medicine Hat Tigers.  Throughout his WHL career Isherwood has appeared in 187 regular season games, accumulating 33 goals and 62 assists for 95 career WHL points and 268 PIM.  The Tigers selected Isherwood in the fifth round – 81st overall during the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft.
The WHL has also nominated Lucas Gore of the Chilliwack Bruins for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award.  Gore posted a 1-0-1-0 record this past week, stopping 61 of 63 shots faced for a 0.970 goals-against average and 0.968 save percentage.  Gore, a native of Kamloops, British Columbia, has appeared in five games this season posting a 1-2-1-0 record with one shut-out.
