Ice’s Sylvester named Boston Pizza WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Dustin Sylvester of the Kootenay Ice.
Sylvester collected six points, scoring three goals and three assists to go with a +1 rating, in two road games over the past week, helping the Ice post a 2-0-0-0 record in that span.
On Friday, November 27th, the Kootenay Ice travelled to Kamloops to face the Blazers at the Interior Savings Centre.  Sylvester scored twice and added a pair of assists as the Ice overcame a 4-0 third period deficit to defeat the Blazers 6-5 in a shoot-out.  The next evening, Saturday, November 28th, the Ice were in Kelowna to take on the Rockets at Prospera Place.  Sylvester scored one goal and one assist to help the Ice to a 4-2 victory over the Rockets; he was also named games 2nd Star.  
Sylvester’s six points over the last two games has him sitting 29th among all WHL scorers with 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 25 games played.  The Kootenay Ice have posted a 6-2-1-1 record in their last 10 contests and currently sit third in the WHL Central Division with a 13-13-1-1 record and 28 points.
Sylvester, a 20-year-old from Kelowna, British Columbia, was selected by the Kootenay Ice in the 2nd round of the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft and has gone on to play his entire career with the Ice.  Now in his fifth year, Sylvester has appeared in 259 regular season games accumulating 89 goals and 101 assists for 190 career WHL points.
The WHL has also nominated Garrett Zemlak of the Prince Albert Raiders for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award.  Zemlak posted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week, stopping 58 of 61 shots faced for a 1.490 goals-against average and a 0.951 save percentage.  Zemlak, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has appeared in 25 games this season posting a 14-9-1-1 record with three shut-outs and a 2.89 GAA.
