Colorado Avalanche rookie forward Borna Rendulic made the most of his second call-up to the NHL from the AHL‘s Lake Erie Monsters, scoring his first NHL goal in the Avalanche’s 4-3 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
With the score tied at one in the second period, Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog took a feed from defenseman Brad Stuart along the right boards. Landeskog then moved toward the right circle, spotting Rendulic alone in the high slot.
Rendulic signed an NHL contract with the Avalanche after a breakout 2013-14 season with HPK in Finland’s Liiga. The Croatian scored 11 goals and added 21 assists for 32 points in 57 games for HPK, then added three more goals in six post-season games. Rendulic had competed in Finland since the 2008-09 season before heading to North America.
