By League Press Release

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, February 8, 2010 – Shawinigan Cataractes forward Michaël Bournival and Victoriaville Tigres goaltender Kevin Poulin today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from February 1 to 7.

Bournival collected two goals and six assists, helping the Cataractes win all three of their games. Moreover, he posted a +3 rating and added six bodychecks. The Shawinigan native played his best game of the week on Saturday, registering four helpers in a 5-3 victory over the Lewiston MAINEiacs. Since the beginning of the season, Bournival has recorded 20 goals and 30 assists in 45 contests.

Mikhail Stefanovich (Remparts), Samuel Morneau (Foreurs) and Jordan Caron (Huskies) were also considered.

Poulin wins the defensive award for the second time this season. The 19-year-old draft pick of the New York Islanders stopped 74 of 78 shots to backstop his team to victories over the Quebec Remparts and the Drummondville Voltigeurs. He maintained a 2.00 goals-against-average and .949 save percentage during that span. Victoriaville is now tied for first in the TELUS Central Division standings with Drummondville.

Marc-Antoine Gélinas (Cataractes), Jérôme Gauthier-Leduc (Huskies) and Robin Gusse (Saguenéens) were also in the running.
