Couturier, Domingue and Nadeau named TELUS Players of the Month

BOUCHERVILLE, Thursday, March 18, 2010 – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced the winners of the offensive, defensive and rookie player of the month awards for March. The players were chosen by a committee mandated by the League.

Sean Couturier gets the nod on offence after recording five goals and seven assists in five Drummondville Voltigeurs wins. Furthermore, he posted an excellent +11 rating and won 52.4% of his face-offs. Couturier finished atop the scoring race with 96 points, becoming only the eighth 17-year-old to accomplish the feat in QMJHL history.

Danick Paquette (Remparts), Jonathan Lessard (Titan) and Gabriel Dumont (Voltigeurs) also received consideration.

Quebec Remparts goaltender Louis Domingue gets the hardware on defence after winning four of his five starts. Domingue played 290 minutes, stopping 116 of the 123 shots he faced. He finished the month with a 1.45 goals-against-average and .943 save percentage. Moreover, he recorded a shutout.

Andrew Randazzo (Voltigeurs), Ryan McKiernan (Titan) and Jake Allen (Voltigeurs) were also in the mix.

Acadie-Bathurst Titan backstop Guillaume Nadeau is the rookie of the month after collecting three wins in as many starts while posting a 2.33 goals-against-average and .914 save percentage. All three of his wins were recorded against the Halifax Mooseheads. The Titan registered five wins in their last ten regular season games.

Tomas Jurco (Sea Dogs), Dan Kindl (Olympiques) and Adam Polasek (Rocket) were also in the race.
