By League Press Release

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Owen Sound Attack rookie forward Jarrod Maidens is the OHL Player of the Week for the playoff week-ending May 15 scoring three goals in the final three games of the Rogers OHL Championship Series.

After scoring a first period goal in Sunday’s Game seven finale against the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, Maidens later scored the biggest goal in Attack history netting the series-winning marker 3:27 into the extra frame to lift the Attack to a 3-2 overtime win to claim their first Robertson Cup as OHL Champions.  He was named first star of the contest finishing the 2011 OHL Playoffs with six goals including one in a 7-3 Game five loss to the Majors last Tuesday night.  The Attack will now compete in the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup May 20-29 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga with their first game against the WHL Champion Kootenay Ice on Saturday night at 7:00 pm.

Also considered for the award this week was Attack forward Joey Hishon who scored a goal and three assists for four points in four games and finished tied for the playoff-lead in scoring with 24 points in 22 games.  The Majors’ Devante Smith-Pelly scored four goals and one assist for five points in three games and led his club with 21 points in 20 playoff games.  In goal, the Attack’s Jordan Binnington won two games with a goals-against-average of 1.94 and save percentage of .943.
