Gauthier, Gauthier-Leduc, Huberdeau named QMJHL three stars of the week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday October 24th 2011 – Danick Gauthier, Jérôme Gauthier-Leduc and Jonathan Huberdeau were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for the period spanning October 17th to the 23rd.

The 20 year-old Saint John Sea Dogs veteran, Danick Gauthier scored 6 of his team’s 21 goals accounting for 29% of the goals in their 3 wins this week. Friday, against the Halifax Mooseheads, he scored the winning goal in the first period and got the second star of the game in a 5-0 victory while on Saturday, against the PEI Rocket, he scored 3 goals and got the first star of the game in an impressive 10-3 win. Finally on Sunday against the Quebec Remparts, he gave his team a 1-0 lead during the first period, and scored his second goal during a penalty kill in a 6-0 win as well as grabbing the first star of the game. Gauthier finishes off the week with 6 goals and a +/- of +3.

Rimouski Océanic defenseman Jérôme Gauthier-Leduc is the second star of the week. He added points in each of his team’s 3 victories. Wednesday, he registered 2 points in a 4-3 win and scored a goal which allowed him to add his name to the record book among defensemen with one goal in 7 consecutive games. It was his 10th of the season. Friday, against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, he beat the 32 year-old record held by former Remparts Gaston Therrien, by scoring his 8th consecutive goal. That same evening, he became the 46th defenseman in QMJHL history to reach 50 career goals. Gauthier-Leduc got 2 goals, 3 assists for a total of 5 points and a +/- of +6 this week.

Finally, Saint John Sea Dogs left-winger Jonathan Huberdeau is the third star of the week. He scored a goal on Friday against the Halifax Mooseheads and collected 4 points against the PEI Rocket with 3 assists on Sunday against the Quebec Remparts. He was named the second star of the PEI and Quebec games. Huberdeau finishes the week with 2 goals, 6 assists and a +/- of +6.
