Ty Rattie Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Portland Winterhawks’ forward Ty Rattie is the CHL Player of the Week after scoring seven goals with five assists for 12 points in four games with a plus-minus rating of plus-8 for the week ending November 27.

Rattie saved his best performance of the week for last scoring a career-high four goals plus an assist for five points on Sunday as first star of a 6-2 win over the Swift Current Broncos.  His week also included a two-assist effort on Friday in a 5-3 win over the Spokane Chiefs after recording a three-point game Wednesday with two goals and one assist as third star of a 7-6 loss to the Tri-City Americans.  His week began with a goal and an assist Tuesday as second star of a 5-2 win over the Regina Pats.

Rattie, an 18-year-old from Airdrie, AB, is playing in his third full WHL season with the Winterhawks and is currently ranked third in WHL scoring with 50 points in 27 games.  The 2011 second round pick of the St. Louis Blues will also attend Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp December 10-14 in Calgary.

Also considered for the award this week was Brendan Gaunce of the Belleville Bulls and Nathan MacKinnon of the Halifax Mooseheads.  Gaunce scored five goals and one assist for six points in three games, while MacKinnon had two goals and six assists for eight points in three games.
