By Danny Raborn

Daniel Corso-C-Corso has improved every year (three in all) with the Worcester Ice Cats, 28 points to 55 points, and is now on a pace for well over 55. So far this season he has 21 goals and 34 assists in 55 games. In the last three years, the top scorer for the Ice Cats has been promoted to the Blues; Michael Handzus, Jochen Hecht, and Jim Campbell, although Campbell wore out his welcome and was let go.

Mike Van Ryn-D-Van Ryn played in the Blues first game this season, but made 2 huge mistakes and was demoted a week later after sitting out to many games. That really hurt his confidence and he started off slow in Worcester, but now may be making a comeback, as he had two goals in his last game. He has 2 goals and 3 assists in 13 games.

Barret Jackman-D-Jackman separated his shoulder recently, but is expected to play for team Canada this year in the WJHC. Before the injury he played 25 games in the WHL with the Regina Pats. In those 25 games, he recorded 6 goals and 21 assists for 27 points.

Andrei Trochinsky-C/RW-In his first season in North America, as a member of the Worcester Ice Cats, he has played 19 games and has 5 goals and 3 assists for 8 points.

Jaroslav Obsut-D-Obsut could be having a huge break out season this year with Worcester, November 12th, he was named AHL player of the week after getting five points in 2 games. In 20 games, he has 5 goals and 8 assists , 13 points. That’s one more point than he had for the last two years combined.

Marc Rycroft-RW-Rycroft is having a great rookie season for the Ice Cats, he has 6 goals and 8 assists, 14 points in 14 games, and 22 penalty minutes.

Justin Papineau-C-In his rookie AHL season, Papineau has 2 goals and 8 assists, 10 points, in 15 games.

Cody Rudkowsky-G-Rudkowsky is currently battling veteran Dwayne Roloson for the starter in Worcester. He has and has 2 shutouts, a 2.59 goals against average, and a save percent rating of .900 in 8 games with the Ice Cats.

Jeff Taffe-C-Taffe, the Blues 2000 number 1 draft pick, is one of the three Blues prospects at center, that play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He has 5 goals and 10 assists good for 15 points in 15 games.

John Pohl-C-Another Gopher center has 7 goals and 9 assists, 16 points, all in 15 games.

Troy Riddle-C-The third center for the Gophers has 8 goals and 2 assists in 15 games.

Demoted Blues:

Ladislav Nagy-LW/C/RW-Nagy was sent back down to Worcester after Michael Handzus came back from his early season injury. He has 4 goals and 11 assists, 15 points in his 15 games in Worcester. He had 1 goal and no assists in 6 games with the Blues.

Marty Reasoner-C-Marty was demoted from the Blues after putting only 1 goal and no assists in 12 games with the Blues on the 3rd Line. He has 1 goal and 2 assists in 5 games for the Ice Cats.

Vlad Chebaturkin-D-Chubby-Turkey was sent down to the Ice Cats after Marc Bergevin returned from his hand injury. He has no points in 5 games with the Ice Cats. In 2 games with the Blues he had no goals and 1 assist.

Include more of the Blues prospects like Jame Pollok and David Morriset next month.
The reason those three were sent to Worcester is because the Blues have way too much depth. If
they lose a few players due to injuries or make some trades, then they Reasoner and Nagy would
definitely be playing in Saint Louis. The reason Reasoner was sent back down isn’t just because of the depth problem, it is also because coach Q moved the lines around a lot and Reasoner couldn’t get comfortable with his line mates. If the Blues could make enough room for both Reasoner and Nagy the Blues could have 3 scoring lines again…
