Wolf Pack Golf for Kids
The Hartford Wolf Pack will be holding a charity golf tournament to benefit The Children’s Home. On Monday October 8, 2001 at the Topstone Country Club in South Windsor, CT the Wolf Pack will trade in their hockey Sticks for golf clubs to help raise money for The Children’s Home.

Attendees will receive 18 holes of golf, boxed lunch, buffet dinner, goodie bag, raffle, and a picture with a Wolf Pack player or celebrity. Shotgun tee-off is at 10:30with dinner, raffle and awards following at 4:30.

Money raised will go to The Children’s Home, which helps over 100 abused, neglected, or troubled Connecticut children. The Children’s Home is located in Cromwell, Ct, and is a residential treatment center and special education school.

Wolf Pack and Ice Cats Face Off For Home and Home Weekend
The Hartford Wolf Pack tie Worcester Ice Cats 3-3. The Wolf Pack lost two leads including a 2-0 and a 3-2 lead.

The first period the Wolf Pack showed there penalty killing skills killing off a five minute major high sticking penalty on Layne Ulmer, and two 5-on-3 Ice Cats power plays. The Wolf Pack took a 1-0 advantage on a shorthanded goal by Colin Forbes with just seven seconds left in the opening period.

In the second period the teams showed that they are both willing to drop the gloves when needed, as the teams had three fights. The Wolf Pack jumped out with a two-goal lead when Matt Kinch scored. The Ice Cats pulled within a goal when Brett Scheffelmaier scored with less than five minutes left in the period.

The Third period saw some good hitting and stick work. The Ice Cats tied the game just prior to the half way point. Hartford took their second lead in the game when Chris St. Croix lit the lamp on the power play. Late in the game Worcester tied the game on a goal by Daniel Tkaczuk. No team could take advantage in overtime and the game ended 3-3.

The Ice Cats out shot the Pack 44-31 but couldn’t take advantage on any of their six power play opportunities including two 5-on-3 chances.

On Sunday the Wolf Pack traveled up to Massachusetts for the second of two games. The Ice Cats started the scoring just over a minute into the first period when Brad Voth put the puck past Wolf Pack goalie Jason LaBarbera. At the 8:04 mark the Ice Cats Bob Gassoff received two minutes for roughing and Hartford’s Marquis Mathieu received five minutes and a game misconduct for spearing. After the teams skated 4-on-4 for two minutes the Ice Cats went up 2-0 when Trevor Baker scored on the remainder of the major penalty.

Mike Lee scored in the second period to give the Ice Cats a 3-0. Brad Voth and Konrad McKay faced off at center ice and received matching majors for fighting at the midway point of the second period. The Ice Cats continued the scoring when Igor Valeev scored at 17:15 of the second period.

The Ice Cats started the third period off strong when Dustin Kuk put the Cats up 5-0. Less then two minutes later the Ice Cats took a commanding 6-0 lead on a goal by Tyler Rennette. The Wolf Pack scored there only when Jason Dawe scored a power play goal. The Ice Cats answered with a goal by Kevin Cloutier just 2:18 later. The Ice Cats out shot the Wolf Pack 38-25.
