As reported in this morning’s edition of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Washington Capitals and ECHL Richmond Renegades have re-worked their working agreement. The Caps have agreed to cut back on the number of players assigned to Richmond, from five down to three. That number includes a goalie, which will be coming directly from college and will be announced at a later date. The Renegades will also be assigned one forward and one defenseman. Players likely to be assigned next season will be forwards Krys Barch, Kyle Clark, and defenseman Nate Forster.
The San Jose Sharks also share a small portion of the Renegades, are expected to send two to three additional players the team announced. The Richmond squad will own the rest of their players outright.
In other news, the Capitals chose not to re-sign current Richmond roster members Curtis Cruickshank (G) and LW/D Mike Siklenka. Although there are some reports that Richmond may still be interested in signing Siklenka to return next fall.
