HF interview with Brent Seabrook

This interview was taken on the World Junior Cup in Peistany after the final game against the Czech team.

When and where did you start playing hockey?

When I was 5 and it was in my hometown Vancouver.

Who directed your first hockey steps?

My parents. But I did all kinds of sports in school as well, but hockey was always my number 1.

Do you have a favorite player?

I like Chris Pronger.

Do you have a favorite NHL team?

Yeah, I like Vancouver Canucks.

Do you have a favorite number?


What is your biggest success in hockey so far?

Definitely playing for the team Canada here on the World Junior Cup and of course winning the gold medal.

How would you describe yourself as a player?

I can rely on my good defensive and offensive game. I’m a physical defenseman. Coaches put me on powerplays a lot. But still I need to improve and mainly my skating.

Have you had any serious injury in your previous career?

Nope, no injuries as far as I can remember.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time I concentrate on school and I hang out with my friends. In the summer I mostly work out.

What is your hockey dream?

To play in the NHL one day and play for team Canada on the Olympic games.

Do you have a nickname?

Yeah, they call me Seabs.

Have you ever been a captain of any team?

I have captained this team on the World Junior Cup and I was the captain of the Canadian U-17 selection last year.

Do you have a person who influenced you the most?

Yes my dad. He was my first and best coach.

Who is your biggest fan?

Both of my parents.

How would you rate this tournament?

This was a great tournament with good teams. There was a lot fun thanks to great bunch of guys in our team.

What is your goal for the upcoming season?

I hope it will be a good season for the Lethbridge, I hope to reach the play-offs and I would like to play for team Canada on the Viking Cup.
