Bridgeport Sound Tigers Week in Review

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers traveled to Binghamton to take on the Senators. This game was full of uncontrollable mishaps like the scoreboard that would sound the horn in the middle of the period or the thick layer of fog that overtook the ice. Early in the first period the Sound Tiger scored the only goal of the period. In the second period the Sound Tigers added another goal before the Senators had two goals of their own. The Sound Tigers scored one more goal, followed by two Senators goals. Bridgeport tied the game with under one minute left to play in the period, this would be the Sound Tigers last shot of the game. The third period saw neither team score and the score remained tied. In overtime Binghamton only needed 47 seconds to win the game.

Saturday, October 12, 2002 vs. Norfolk Admirals
In front of almost 6000 fans the Sound Tigers raised their three championship banners from last season (Regular Season, Eastern Division, and Eastern Conference). That would be the last of the celebrating for the Bridgeport Fans for the night. The Admirals scored twice in the first period while hold the Sound Tigers scoreless. In the second period the Sound Tigers had the only goal. The third period saw the Sound Tigers score to tie the game, but the Admirals answered with two goals of their own to take the win.

October 9, 2002 – Bridgeport Sound Tigers sign Defenseman J.F. David to an AHL contract. Last season David scored 21 goals and had 70 points and 164 penalty minutes in 70 games for the Sahinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL

October 9, 2002 – Bridgeport Sound Tigers released Center Marquis Mathieu.

October 9, 2002 – Bridgeport Sound Tigers assigned Goaltender David St. Germain to Trenton of the ECHL.

October 11, 2002 – Bridgeport Sound Tigers signed Defenseman Kevin Bolibruck to a PTO contract. Last season Bolibruck scored 3 goals, 18 points, and 59 penalty minutes in 60 games for the Houston Aeros of the AHL.

October 11, 2002 – New York Islanders traded Right Wing Juraj Kolnik and a draft pick to the Florida Panthers of the NHL, in exchange for Defenseman Sven Butenschon. Last season Butenschon scored 0 goals, 0 points, and 4 penalty minutes in 14 games for the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL, and 9 goals, 44 points, and 88 penalty minutes in 61 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.
